The Flying Dance Company (FDC) was founded in 2001. Its Director, Nicholas (Nico) Muthui Kaburia, had a desire to share his love of dance as a way to celebrate life, creating a studio that is based on a fun friendly service, cultural diverse teachings, and is community focused. It is FDC’s vision to enrich people’s lives through dance and they are dedicated to bringing the community together in an environment that allows its’ students to indulge in the many benefits of dance, focusing on improving their physical health and emotional well being.
FDC has been privileged to be part of it’s’ students journey of self reflection and the development of personal connections that are lifelong. We are non-traditional in nature and has expanded from providing just Salsa classes to a studio that offers more than 10 different styles of dance including learning how to West Coast Swing, Belly Dancing, African Dance, Hip Hop, Argentine Tango, Flamenco, Waltz, Fox trot, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Bachata, Merengue and many more. FDC offers lessons and workshops for both adult and kids ages 3 to 70 yrs and provides Private, Group and Corporate dance instructions, hosts dance socials, dance retreats and camps for everyone.
At the studio, the dance classes are taught with the highest of quality by our talented and creative team of instructors who are focused on encouraging students to express themselves creatively, challenging them to grow in healthy and positive ways, while to have the most fun in accomplishing these goals.
We are also lucky to be involved with helping wedding couples make their wedding day a memorable one. We help in choreographing dances to different styles of music including the Rumba (most popular), Waltz, Argentine Tango, Cha Cha, Salsa and Hip Hop. We can choreograph a classic dance routine that would amaze your guests, or a fun crazy surprise dance to wow your family as well. With his continuous love and passion for dance, Nico founder of the Dancing In The Park Festival, an free outdoor festival that brings the community together through the arts. The event started small as one afternoon event called Salsa In the park but as the years went by, Nico wanted to share all the different dance styles and cultures he got to learn from and the interactions he had with the different instructors helped him grow as a dancer, and as a person. This personal growth is something that can be achieved by anyone and dance is a good avenue as any to start exploring who you are as a human being, your interactions with your family, your community strengthens us as a whole. Dancing in the park festival is a place where anything is possible.
