Once upon a time, a boy and a girl met. They exchanged smiles and gazes, and after the introductions, they found out that they both liked to dance. And on went the story, sharing their dancing passion by learning how to Salsa dance in Night Clubs, and taking Latin/Ballroom Dance Classes everywhere they went (the even visited the FDC Salsa Blog for all the latest news on learning to Salsa dance and more). When they knew they could not live without each other, they decided to get married, had a wonderful Wedding Dance at their reception for their guests. A few years went by and the loves of their lives came, beautiful children. They were the happiest couple in the whole world. One day, they realized that something lacked in their lives, their “Rumba Step” was missing a beat. As they exchanged their ever familiar smiles and gazes, they knew what needed to be done, but it was no longer as easy as before. They had the little ones to contend with. So they hatched up a plan, “How to find a Salsero/Salsera's Baby Sitter”
Sitting at the kitchen table, they wrote down what they needed to do and anyone can share in their research;
• One: Identify your priorities, know what you want and expect from the caregiver
• Two: Do your research, ask friends, family, trusted colleagues, their contacts
• Three: Interview. Preferable face to face, and do as many of this as possible. Have specific questions about their work experience, family background, habits and anything else you deem important. Your children may also participate in the interview. • Four: Check references, ask for a minimum of three (family members not included). Their former employers would be a good place to start
• Five: Do a trial run. Have the caregivers interact with the children while you are close at hand, and pay them for their time
If references from friends and family members do not work, here are a few websites to help you search for a baby sitter;
1. http://www.nannyservices.ca/
2. http://www.greataupair.com/Babysitter_Service/Find_Babysitter/Ontario-Canada.htm
3. http://www.phoneababysitter.com/
4. http://www.canadiansitter.ca/
5. http://www.sittercity.com/
Well, as the saying goes, they ended up dancing together for the rest of their lives. See you all on the dance floor, cheers
