Since June 2004, the Flying Dance Company has hosted an event in Royal City Park that introduces the public to the joys and benefits of Salsa. This fun filled event has always been known as "Salsa In The Park (SITP)". SITP has always included demonstrations in different Latin Dance Styles, free dance lessons, plus music, performances and great food. It's been a great way to start the summer.

As with most things, given time, they grow and so are we. In the fall of 2007, the Flying Dance Company expanded and now includes many different dance styles all offered under one roof. We now offer African Dance lesson, Belly Dancing, Latin/Ballroom, Hip Hop, Argentine Tango and Spanish Flamenco just to name a few. As always, we love sharing with the community what we have learnt over the last year and on Saturday June 20th 2009 , you are all welcome to see us shine on the stage. Now known as DANCING IN THE PARK , this will be an Annual event that celebrates dancing within the community, and highlights Guelph's increasingly vibrant multicultural diversity.

So, don't be shy, come and "Bust a Move" with us. Everyone, including children of all ages are welcome. In fact, children are often the best dancers because they dance to the music and aren't self conscious like we adults. Hence the famous quote, "Dance like no one is watching".

This year (2009), we will be celebrating our 6th annual anniversary. The dancing will start at 2pm, followed by performances by the FDC and guests started around 5pm. We shall also have dance lessons in mid-afternoon and lots of interesting stuff to expand your knowledge of dance and the culture around us all.

Because of its' huge success and popular demand, the FDC will also host another small outdoor dance festivals in the evening called "Salsa In the Dark" in September. There will be no performances though, only lots of Salsa, Merengue & Bachata music all evening long. It will run from 6pm-10pm. Below are the details, see you all there...

Event: Dates: Time Location:	Dancing in the Park Saturday, June 20th, on one warm summer afternoon... 1-7pm Royal City Park, across from the boat house (next to the Speed River)
Lessons:	- Latin Cardio (a mid-to-medium level workout to Latin beats) - Ladies Styling in Salsa - Reggaeton/Hip Hop (the new dance craze, you can not miss it) - Break Dancing (all lessons are 1/2 hour long and are subject to change without notice)
